Air conditioning work on North Rainbow

Rainbow Boulevard is one of the valley's long north to south arterials, running well inside the built up area east of Summerlin proper. The northern stretch passes through established residential neighborhoods that were developed before much of Summerlin itself, along with a steady run of neighborhood retail, offices and light commercial along the road.

Older stock, and often an undersized return

Housing along the north Rainbow corridor is generally older than the Summerlin villages to its west, which makes it a part of the valley where genuinely aged systems are still in service. The recurring fault in housing of this era is not tonnage but return air: a single undersized return grille serving a whole house starves the air handler, drops capacity, ices the evaporator coil in summer and makes the blower work harder year round. Adding return capacity often does more for comfort than a larger condenser would.

The load a north Rainbow system is actually carrying

The valley averages a July high of 104 degrees and about 4.18 inches of rain annually, at roughly 2,000 feet of elevation. Being inside the built up core rather than on the western rim, this corridor holds more of the day's heat overnight, so systems here get less recovery time than those higher up toward Red Rock.

When to call us on North Rainbow

Call if the evaporator coil keeps freezing, if airflow is weak, if the system runs continuously without reaching setpoint, if it will not start, or if you hear new noises from the outdoor unit. We will connect you with a local contractor.
